How to check a project's RERA registration in Karnataka (step by step)

Verify a builder's project on the K-RERA website in five minutes before you pay a booking amount.

Every residential project in Karnataka above the RERA threshold must be registered with the Karnataka Real Estate Regulatory Authority (K-RERA) before it is advertised or sold. Checking takes five minutes and protects your booking amount.

Step by step

  1. Open rera.karnataka.gov.in and go to the list of registered projects.
  2. Search by the project name or the registration number shown in the advertisement (it looks like PRM/KA/RERA/…).
  3. Open the project and check:
    • the promoter (builder) name matches the one selling to you
    • the registration validity date and the proposed completion date
    • the number of units, towers and the land details
    • uploaded approvals such as the sanctioned building plan
  4. Look at the quarterly progress updates. Projects that stopped updating are a warning sign.
  5. Check whether any complaints or orders are listed against the project or promoter.

Also check the agent

Real estate agents in Karnataka must also be registered with K-RERA. Ask for the agent's registration number. Squaro Apex shows its number in the footer of every page.

What RERA does not tell you

RERA registration does not guarantee quality or that every document is in order. Still verify the title deed, Khata and encumbrance certificate (see our document checklist).
